Trampoline!

My parents, "Mawmaw and Granddaddy", got Kaitlyn, Wyatt and Olivia a trampoline for Christmas! We were at my parents house in Jefferson City for Christmas. They were so excited, they were given a piece of paper with a picture of the trampoline on it. They were told that it is in a box in the garage at home and Daddy will put it together for them.

Larry read the directions and said that he would rather put it up in the Spring after all the snow because the snow weighs down the trampoline and it isn't good for it. I was disappointed because it was so warm outside. The kids were also disappointed. I even said "I am sure that my parents did not intend to give the kids a Christmas gift that they could not take out of the box for 3 to 5 months."

A few days later, I came home to the trampoline put up! Olivia was SO excited and I was excited that Kaitlyn and Wyatt would be able to use it that weekend! They love to jump!

Here is Olivia jumping the first day it was put up...........

So, a few days go by and Olivia jumped a few times but it was usually too cold and dark when we were home. We were still looking forward to the "big kids" (as I call them) coming that weekend to jump with her and the weather was to be in the 50's and 60's.

On Wednesday, January 11, 2012. I had the worst 2 hours of my life after work one day while trying to get Olivia to participate in gymnastincs. Ok, I am getting a little side tracked from the trampoline, but I feel this is worth mentioning. Olivia went to a friend's birthday party this last summer at Shoot for the Stars Gymnastics and Olivia loved it. She said she wanted to do gymnastics, so I signed her up. It is once a week for 30 minutes. She started out typical, getting used to it. She slowly started to not follow the rules, not listen to the teacher, and kept running in and out of the gym. Olivia calls it "Nastics!" and looks forward to it. Now, this is after being at daycare all day and is right in the middle of the week. So, that day, she didn't want to go in but also didn't want to leave. She kept going in and out of the gym and ended up leaving 10 minutes early kicking, screaming and flailing. She screams the whole way home and my patience is GONE!  On top of that, it has started to snow some and it is EXTREMELY windy! We pull into the driveway and the trampoline is not there. There are a few of the leg pieces are on the ground. So, I go inside, get Olivia changed, start a load of laundry, get a text from Larry which says that he is going to be late (just lovely!) and we get back in the car and go looking for the trampoline. Well, we picked up a few pieces along the way and put them in the back of the car. We drive through the field, and find this.......

It is dark, but I am sure that you can see that the trampoline is in the pond, oh yeah, just floating in the POND! Olivia gasps and says "Oh no, the fwampoline is in the wader!"  Yep, it sure is.

So, the next day, I called the company and told them the whole sad story and I was told that we needed to assess the trampoline and let them know which parts are needed and they will replace them for free! Praise the Lord!

So, today, Larry, Wyatt and I had the FUN job of getting the trampoline out of the pond. The pond was completely frozen solid. So Larry and Wyatt got in the paddle boat and used a splitting maul and sticks to bust the ice. They went around the trampoline and busted all of the ice around it. Then they tied wratchet straps to the trampoline and tied them to a chain and pulled it out with the truck. This took a long time and was not easy.

Here is the trampoline in the pond......

Here is the hole in the frozen pond.........

Here is the trampoline that is going to be replaced soon......

I don't know what we would do without caos and drama!!!!!!
